Surveillance videos show how the taxi driver targeted a man, entered the pedestrian street, and drove a total of more than five people.
Then he backs up and drives back to the man he was aiming for.
The man is now sentenced to nine years in prison for, among other things, attempted murder.
Just before midnight on July 24 this year, an ambulance and the police were alerted to a traffic accident in the center of Borlänge.
A taxi driver had run over several people and was stopped by witnesses who pulled him out of the car.
According to the preliminary investigation, the 28-year-old taxi driver must have entered the pedestrian street, with the aim of killing a 35-year-old man he knows and with whom he had a conflict before. Five people were hit and the man who was the target ended up under the car and was dragged several meters. After that, the taxi driver must repeatedly drive from one side to the other on the pedestrian street and try to drive towards the man again.

Sentenced to prison
Today at 11 a.m., the verdict against the taxi driver was announced at the Fallu District Court.
He was charged, among other things, with attempted murder and four cases of aggravated assault. The prosecutor believes that the crime should be judged as serious because the act endangered life and that the suspect showed “special cruelty and rudeness.”
The district court sentences the man to nine years in prison for attempted murder, aggravated assault and gross negligence in traffic. The man, for his part, is acquitted of sexual harassment, for which he was also charged on a previous occasion.
“I was just gassing”
The taxi driver has said earlier in questioning that he was attacked and threatened with death by the 35-year-old man who was said to have been armed with a knife and beat him, according to the driver’s story. So the driver must have tried to escape by driving onto the pedestrian street.
– It was an emergency situation. I was just gassing. He did not know where it would end, he says in questioning.
It says the man then threw himself in front of the car. Why he repeatedly drove from one place to another is difficult for him to explain. “It was impossible to get out of there,” he says.
– I suspected he was driving over people. I didn’t want more people to be affected, so I stayed there, he says.

Previous conflict
The 35-year-old had previously reported the taxi driver to the police for a sexual offense against a relative. He admits that he confronted the taxi driver and that they “upset” each other.
– Then he hit me so that I fell to the ground and kept driving until I ended up under the car. He tried to run me over with the tires but I ended up between them. The car is big, so I ended up between the wheels, but a plaque under the engine scraped my head, he says in questioning.
