Loaded with three tons of cocaine and food in bags of water, the submarine crossed the Atlantic.
But the smuggling attempt was discovered and the crew sank the ship.
Now the leader of the smuggling league has been arrested.
It was in November of last year when the cocaine-laden submarine approached the Foxos beach in Spanish Galicia.
Drug police had been following the ship for days. They were ready to attack when the crew suddenly lowered the submarine right in front of their eyes.
A packet of cocaine was the first to be rescued from the submarine. It would later turn out that the submarine contained a total of 3 tons of drugs, worth close to one billion crowns.
Police picked up two Ecuadorians from the water and arrested them. But one person managed to dodge it.

Gave up
Police suspected from the start that the infamous drug dealer Juan Carlos Santórum was the leader behind the high-profile smuggling attempt. He is also accused of further attempts to smuggle large quantities of drugs into the channel.
Santorum has managed to stay away from the police for several months. But on Monday, the king of smuggling was arrested, after turning himself in to the police,
However, he himself claims that he is innocent and accuses the police of conspiracy.
“I’m tired of fighting. Let them do what they want, I can’t anymore. It’s completely rigged,” the drug trafficker is said to have written in a Facebook message according to the Spanish newspaper El País.

I had food in bags of water
Now there is also new information about the 26-day submarine voyage of the drug submarine.
According to El País, the journey began in Colombia. Immersed two meters below the water’s surface, the 20-meter-long submarine cruised the Amazon River and then crossed the Atlantic, a distance of a total of 9,000 kilometers.
It was probably not a comfortable ride. The tanks with the 20,000 liters of fuel necessary for the crossing occupied almost half of the surface of the ship. Due to limited space on board, bags of water filled with food had to be placed outside the ship.
The nights were spent in tents set up on a total of 152 drug-filled bales.
The drug submarine is the first seized in Europe.
