At the turn of the year, Erik Bergkvist left his role as club coach for Gais, since then the superettan club has been looking for a replacement. Now the process is complete. On his website, Green-Black announces that Magnus Sköldmark is returning as the club’s coach, a position he also held between 2004 and 2008.
– I have worked with football throughout my life, first as a player in Sweden, Scotland and China and then in various positions as a leader in GAIS and Örebro SK. Although it was a long time ago, I suppose there are many who know that I previously played for GAIS and that I was also a club coach at the club between 2004 and 2008. After that my family and I moved to Örebro and I have been active there since then. his, including as ÖSK’s sporting director for the past three years, says Sköldmark in a comment on the club’s website.
– I am very happy and honored, motivated and inspired to take on this task. GAIS is a long-established club, which I think should be for everyone, no matter who you are, what background you have, or what social class you come from. Today we are a sports, sports and cultural institution with enormous power and closeness, the community, joy and love for the club are important foundations that generate great opportunities for development. GAIS holds a special place in my heart and I am looking forward to going back and helping develop the club on the path that GAIS has embarked on.
Gai’s president, Jonas Andersson, on hiring:
– It feels great that we were able to attract and agree with Magnus. We have always been looking for a candidate who is good at building structures, has the ability to build relationships and knows elite Swedish football. All of this is in line with Magnus and having him at the helm will further our development towards a sustainable club that can compete at a higher level.
