Police were alerted to Vallby in Västerås on Sunday afternoon after a caller became concerned about a man marching in a military uniform and safety vest in the area.
– The caller said that several in the area reacted to the man, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesman for the police in the Central region.
The man was wearing uniform-like clothing and according to the caller, he must have avoided other people’s eyes. Several police patrols were summoned to the place, but when the man was confronted, it turned out that he was going to do foreign service for the Armed Forces and had decided to train before the service.
– He was ashamed of the attention of the police and the general public, so now he has gone home again, says Daniel Wikdahl.
And according to the police, there is no reason to distrust the marching man’s explanation.
