Croatia’s biggest star, Luka Modric, 35, recently met Alexander Isak at La Liga. Now the midfielder uses big words about the 21-year-old ahead of Sunday’s Nations League game between Croatia and Sweden.
Isak came close to signing for Real Madrid just before signing for Borussia Dortmund, and the Real Sociedad forward has the same agent as Modric; Vlado Lemic.
– I know Alexander Isak from La Liga very well. He is a young forward with great talent. He has shown great qualities at Real Sociedad and, in fact, I have had the opportunity to meet him in private at some point, says Modric.
Most indications are that Isak will start against Croatia, after Robin Quaison became enraged and forced to stand in front of the match.
– I see him as a great threat to us in the game. We must take care of it and do everything possible. I hope he continues his good development but does not reach his highest and best level against us, says Modric.
Sweden national team captain Janne Andersson:
– If we play with Isak, he is a very skilled player who fits well in our way of playing. He is skilled at receiving the ball, handling it, timing in depth and good shots. He’s a lot like Robin, and so is Marcus. Forwards who should be able to tie the ball to us and also threaten in the deep advantage game. These three attackers do it in a good way.
Alexander Isak scored a goal in Sweden’s 2-1 win against Russia on Thursday.
The match between Croatia and Sweden is broadcast on TV4, C More Football and can also be broadcast on cmore.se. The broadcast begins at 5.30 pm.
