It is not entirely clear when exactly the Tinkerbell, as the church bell is called, was stolen, but it disappeared from its place sometime around the fourth Advent, which P4 Stockholm was the first to report. The clock has been on fire in the cemetery outside the church since the 1970s.
– How long has it been, there are slightly different opinions about it. You’ve seen it, but you haven’t seen it if you understand. They just didn’t realize it was missing, says Torbjörn Gustavsson.
He learned of the disappearance on Monday.
– I was incredibly sad. The clock is part of the long history of the Bromma parish.
“There is no trace of when it was stolen”
The disappearance has been reported to the police, but so far Torbjörn Gustavsson has not heard from the police.
It is not known how the thieves were able to obtain an estimated 500 kilo watch without anyone discovering it, but Torbjörn Gustavsson believes the thieves took advantage of the fact that it was near the wall around the cemetery, a couple of steps up from the road. .
– I imagine you drove a truck with a tow truck, because then you don’t have to drive on grass. So there was almost no trace of when it was stolen.
The copper casing may have fooled the thieves
He doesn’t know how much the church bell might be worth, but he doesn’t think it could be particularly valuable outside of church. The watch is made of a mixture of metals, but on the outside it has a copper casing, which may have misled the thief (s) into believing that the whole watch is made of metal, which would give it a higher value than it actually is. has.
On the other hand, the clock is important to the congregation, says Torbjörn Gustavsson:
– It’s a bit cracked, but still has value. It’s like us humans, some of us are a bit cracked, but we are still important to the whole, says Torbjörn Gustavsson.
