NYKÖPING. A 21-year-old man was shot and killed at his old school in Brandkärr.
On Tuesday he was buried.
– It was as if someone could not see him succeed, says a sister.
Many had gathered in the rainy autumn air in the Muslim Quarter of the New Cemetery, to say goodbye and dump dirt on the coffin.
One of those who shared the pain was Dragan Petrovic from Grönlund vocational training, where the 21-year-old studied for a truck driver’s license.
– He was a well-behaved young man. Very personable, accommodating and all the best you can imagine, says Dragan Petrovic.

For the family, it remains a mystery why the 21-year-old was shot and killed.
“Prosecutor: That is not the case – period”
The murdered 21-year-old from Brandkärr in Nyköping went unpunished and did not live a life of crime. The prosecutor in the case has come out and cleared this up.
– Unfortunately, there has been information in the media that could be interpreted as having a criminal link, a criminal record or how one now chooses to express oneself. That is not the case. Period, says Ola Björstrand, deputy chief prosecutor of the Nyköping Public Prosecutor’s Office, to Aftonbladet.
The young man was shot and killed late on Thursday night, September 17. Friends and family have reacted strongly to the writings that he was a criminal.
– It’s so strange that this happened. No one understands why it should be affected. It was as if someone couldn’t see him succeed, says the 21-year-old’s sister.

Run in his old school
The shooting took place in Långbergsskolan in Brandkärr, where the same 21-year-old was a student.
His friends describe him as an entertainer with big plans. After graduation, the 21-year-old had worked for the SSAB steel company. When the pandemic ended work there, he decided to obtain a truck driver’s license, in which he intended to work in parallel with further studies. He wanted to be a lawyer.

Many had gathered at the New Cemetery to say goodbye.
Jeremias Varas, personality of the association, has known the 21-year-old since he was little. In recent years, the 21-year-old had worked to start his own youth association in Brandkärr.
– It is very sad. So he had come and had all the papers in order. He studied trucking and was very proud that he did so well. So I wanted a lot and the ambitions were high, says Jeremias Varas, head of football at IFK Nyköping.

He wanted a lot and the ambitions were high, says Jeremias Varas, head of football at IFK Nyköping.
During the funeral ceremony, the imam recorded a fatal shooting in June, when a man of the same age was shot dead in Nyköping. The Imam urged all young people to fight and be a person who benefits society.
– If everyone did their thing, things like this wouldn’t happen. The 21-year-old wasn’t in any gang or anything like that at all. However, this has happened. We do not want a third person to be shot dead here in Nyköping, and we would like to stop everything that happens in the country. It is our dream, says Ali Abdulaziz, active in the Nyköping Somali association.

No one arrested for the murder
The investigation is led by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Ola Björstrand. No one has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The prosecutor does not want to go into more detail in the investigation. You also don’t want to answer the question if the goal was different.
– I understand the issue, but we are in a factual task in the investigation and I cannot comment on that, says Ola Björstrand at the prosecutor’s office in Nyköping.
