KHK can be bankrupt days

A few weeks ago, Karlskrona HK came out with serious news that the club’s future is threatened.

“We are now in a position, because of Corona, and with 90% less income where difficult decisions must be made to discover if there is an opportunity to continue the business,” the club wrote on its website.

KHK’s lifeline has been receiving financial assistance from the Karlskrona Municipality to carry out a club restoration. The alternative is bankruptcy.

But during a live broadcast on KHK’s Facebook page, parts of the administration announced that the municipality did not want to take over the team at NKT Arena, worth more than SEK 2 million, which was what the club wanted, according to Blekinge Läns Tidning.

– We do not request a grant without the municipality buying the equipment that we have always wanted to rent. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten where we wanted to, we were expecting another message, says board member Andreas Kristensson according to the newspaper.

Need five million

On Monday night, the municipality also came out with a press release where the message was that they offered KHK to buy equipment at a value corresponding to the municipality’s claims about the club.

In addition, KHK is offered an advance of the year-round municipal operating contribution, which is approximately SEK 150,000.

But KHK needs much more than that. To implement a rebuild, it is SEK 5 million.

– I hope that our support can help KHK, but I understand that your needs are great. At the same time, we must remember that the municipality’s mission is to ensure central municipal activities, such as school, care, attention, community building, and that it is carried out through fiscal funds, says Sandra Bizzozero, the president. from the local council, in the press release.

“The hours are a few days”

KHK management believes that several sponsors are ready to help with the reconstruction, but that the requirement is that the municipality also help.

– The schedule is now a few days. We have to make a series of decisions this week and a lot will be decided in May. We still appeal and hope to move the discussion forward with the municipality, says Andreas Kristensson.

One of the club’s two companies can file for bankruptcy on Monday night. If there is no rebuilding, there is much to suggest that the other company, where the club has its elite license, goes bankrupt.

“It will be incredibly difficult to manage the club if the companies go down,” says Karlskrona HK President Tobias Larsson.
