An increasing number of intensive care units are in Sweden after the long weekend.
State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell now claims to have “moderate” hope for the status of the infection.
“There is quite a bit of evidence that, at least in Stockholm and the surrounding regions, we can probably overcome the worst now,” he says.
During Monday’s press conference at the Public Health Authority, the first after the first weekend in May, covid-19 reported 90 new deaths in Sweden.
A total of 2,769 people have died from the corona virus, although the figures are estimated to be somewhat behind schedule.
Signs of reduced spread of infection are reported in many parts of Europe. There are no positive signs in Sweden either, according to the press conference. Just over 500 people are receiving intensive care in the country, which is around fifty less than the previous week.
State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell says the numbers make him “moderately” hopeful.

The worst may have happened
– This is because we keep helping. It is very important that, when we have come this far, we endure another number of weeks in order to obtain medical attention that at least reduces the pressure a little, ”he says.
Are we going through the worst?
– We can be that if we continue to abide by the measures we are taking at the moment. If we release them, it can get worse again. There is a lot of talk that at least Stockholm and the surrounding regions may have been through the worst now. But there are other parts of Sweden where things can also get worse.

“” Responsibility for the individual “
Earlier Monday, Stockholm’s Director of Health and Medicine, Björn Eriksson, invited the Stockholmers to host dinners, barbecue parties, and picnics and not invite their friends home.
“You shouldn’t plan to be with anyone but a very small circle,” said Björn Eriksson.
Anders Tegnell does not want to answer the question if even the Public Health Authority is behind the harsh recommendations.
– The basic question is to assign as much responsibility to the individual as possible. If there are people you still meet every day, it is one aspect, they are people you know from other parts of the country, it is another matter, he says.
Possible camping
Many of Aftonbladet’s readers have asked what applies to campsites. Anders Tegnell emphasizes that the rules are the same as for the rest of society.
– There must be space so that it is not necessary to be full and too close to others. If you can get it in a camp, the same things apply to the type of business as everything else, says the state epidemiologist.
podcasts The conspiracy theories surrounding the corona virus
Since the corona virus began to spread, conspiracy theories have spread at almost the same rate. In today’s section, we take a closer look at the theories together with Sebastian Bay, FOI researcher.
