The Spanish newspaper El País writes that epidemiologists in the country believe that it will be very difficult to prevent the spread of the infection within clubs if the idea is to play matches every three days. At least without massive quarantine rules.
A big question is how to ensure player safety while testing for covid-19 is not completely foolproof, the magazine writes.
Men’s players. The League will gradually resume training at club facilities, beginning with this week’s individual training. Players will be evaluated for the new coronavirus, according to a protocol developed by the league and approved by the government. However, according to El País, it has not yet been confirmed that the clubs have access to the crown test mentioned in the protocol.
Fernando Rodríguez Artalejo, director of the Department of Infection Protection and Public Health at the University of Madrid, also points out an ethical problem:
– Spain has the capacity to perform 50,000 PCR tests (a covid-19 test technique) per day. Given the escalation, there may be 50,000 people, with symptoms pointing to the coronavirus, to perform a PCR test. According to him, testing perfectly healthy people as a footballer creates an ethical and legal problem.
– I understand that soccer players have special conditions, but in general, PCR tests are carried out in very specialized laboratories, which are currently in charge of the Ministry of Health, he continues.
Spain is over 220,000 reported cases of the coronavirus and more than 25,000 people died as a result of covid-19.
The League still hopes to play the season this summer, unlike French Ligue 1, which has announced that the season will not resume and that PSG will be selected as the French champion.
