Until now, scientists know very little about the crown’s spread. To increase knowledge, British researchers have developed an application called Covid Symptom Tracker, which is based on the public reporting their own symptoms.
Now the University of Lund has adapted the application to Sweden, and the researchers hope that the Swedes will also start to contribute our experiences.
The purpose of the application is to find out where the risk of infection is high, how the virus spreads in the country and what factors make us seriously ill.
– Because there are so few tests to detect the virus in Sweden, it is difficult to get an idea of the spread of the infection. Therefore, we have offered the Public Health Authority to participate in the results we obtain from the application, which may be the basis for future decision-making, says Paul Frank professor of genetic epidemiology.
The application is free to use and all information is anonymous. GPS data is not collected, but your geographic location is displayed by completing your ZIP code.
To use the Covid Symptom Tracker:
1. Open Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (Iphone) and search for the application COVID Symptom Tracker (from Zoe Global Limited). Note that you need to search for the app name, if you just search for example covid in some cases it will go directly to the WHO applications. Press install and then select open.
2. Scroll down to Tell me more and press Create Account You will get more information. When you have read it, click on the three boxes and select I agree.
3. Create an account by entering your email address and password. If you already have one, please log in. Answer a series of questions about yourself, such as age, height, weight, and zip code.
4. You also receive questions about your health. The idea is that you come in and answer every day. According to the researchers, it only takes a minute.
