The Chinese state-controlled media company CCTV accuses US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of “crazy and floating statements” about the origin of the coronavirus.

Pompeo claimed that the virus could come from a laboratory in China:

The Chinese play came the day after Pompeo discussed the origin of the virus in an interview with the American television network ABC.

“There is significant evidence that this (the virus outbreak) comes from this laboratory in Wuhan,” Pompeo said Sunday without presenting any evidence of the accusation. The theory of origin has been previously presented, among others, by President Donald Trump. The United States intelligence services have not substantiated the charges.

“These inaccurate and unreasonable statements by American politicians make it increasingly clear that there is no ‘evidence’,” CCTV writes in a comment titled “Onde Pompeo deliberately throws poison and spreads lies.”

The official Chinese newspaper also commented on Pompeo’s remarks, as well as on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who compared the spread of covid-19 from China to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. called “a pair of lying clowns”.

The World Health Organization, WHO, insists that the virus is not artificially created.
