A fire broke out in a multi-family house in Broby, in the municipality of Östra Göinge, the night before Sunday. Emergency services, the police and the ambulance were alerted to the scene shortly after 2 a.m.
– When the first force arrived, there was a large fire in an apartment with smoke spread in the stairwell. It burned the window in both the front and rear, says Thomas Nordin, internal commander of the Skåne Nordost rescue service.
The person in the apartment had left, but neighbors living in other apartments had to be evacuated using stairs.
– Three people were transferred by ambulance and at least two of them were transferred to the hospital. I don’t know anything about the injury situation, says Thomas Nordin.
Police write on their website that the fire should have been caused in connection with the kitchen. It could be extinguished before it spread, but a balcony has been damaged by fire and smoke has penetrated several of the neighboring apartments.
Police have prepared a negligent negligence report.
