A man who nearly crashed his sailboat on the Älvsnabben ferry in Gothenburg is sentenced to prison for tarmac, writes the Gothenburg Post.
It was last fall that a man in his 40s steered his sailboat directly onto the passenger ferry in the Gothenburg port.
The river captain realized that the sailboat was on the wrong side of the street and that the driver did not appear to have seen the ferry. He polished the boat, which then changed course.
“When my ferry passes, we are half a meter away,” says the captain on interrogation.
The sailboat was close to entering the ferry once more and the Coast Guard was alerted.
The man who ran the boat had a blood alcohol concentration of 1.98 per thousand.
“It doesn’t matter how affected I am … When I control, I get sober if I have four per thousand,” says the man in questioning.
Previously, the man was sentenced to three months in prison for drunk driving and, since he has regressed on traffic disability offenses during the trial period, he is now sentenced to one month in prison for drunk driving.
