According to a new report from the University of Minnesota, the corona pandemic can last two years.
This could be the case, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.
– It is not entirely inconceivable that it can last that long, given the various measures taken in different areas, and where it stops a bit, then it may take a few months, then it will come back. Many of the old pandemics have also been around for so long.

In Ekot’s Saturday interview on P1, he received questions about early statements that the virus would not come to Sweden from China. It was a lot of “the story behind,” says Tegnell, as the country had previously had several pneumonia and new influenza viruses, which China had previously managed without spreading.
– At that time we considered that the risk of spread was not great at that particular moment. And that was also true, it was actually a couple of months before we got a proper broadcast in Sweden, he tells the radio.
The spread in Italy was what caused the Public Health Authority to change its assessment.
– Italy was probably the great revelation. It was the first time we saw how great it could be in other countries.
– Then we realized that it was a virus with which we had to learn to live in a completely different way.

If Sweden’s measures have been the right path so far, Anders Tegnell does not want to speculate.
“It won’t be that easy for you to say that, whether you would have or not.” This is so multifaceted, so we’ll probably be talking about this for many years to come, he tells Expressen.
What do you mean year?
– I mean, partly before this, in addition to landing, it may take 1 to 2 years before we have a decent stable situation in the world.

– No, definitely not, it will take much longer than that.

– It has spread different fortunes in different parts of the country. So I don’t think I can draw any conclusions from that for the rest of the country.
Other regions may suffer worse in the future, but the state epidemiologist does not want to go ahead with the events.
– Most regions are so small that it is very difficult to know what some cases mean more or less.
What do you think is the most important thing to achieve right now?
– How important it is that we continue with what we do, we cannot end that, because then there will be many more problems in medical care in Sweden.
