TT has previously spoken about the problem of people with dementia at risk of covid-19 from spreading the infection to healthy homes. In the city of Stockholm, three crown houses for the elderly have been opened, where people with dementia can be transferred, reports Ekot.
According to Greger Bengtsson in Sweden’s municipalities and regions (SKR), several municipalities bear witness to the problem that it is difficult to limit the mobility of people with dementia who are sick with coronary heart disease.
– Even if you try as much as possible to let infected people in their own apartments, open the door and go out, and infect others in the accommodation, says Greger Bengtsson.
In the city of Stockholm, they try to solve the problem by opening three nursing homes, with a total of 62 places, where dementia with coronary infection can be temporarily relocated.
– If you make the evaluation that it is not appropriate for the person to stay in the nursing home where he lives, because he runs the risk of transmitting the infection to the ward, then he can transfer the person to said coronary residence for as long as he is infected, says Erik Slottner (KD), council of the elderly in the city of Stockholm to Ekot.
