The Corona pandemic has strongly affected professional cultural creators, but with the grant called Home Growth – Culture in the Coronan era, it should provide the opportunity for cultural workers in Östergötland, from all artistic and cultural areas, to receive support temporary financial to deepen and develop their art.
– I am glad that, in a broad political consensus, we are now strengthening cultural life in Östergötland. Not least, support is extremely important for cultural creators who have been financially hit by the pandemic, says Eva Andersson (S), chairman of the Regional Development Board, Östergötland Region.
“Insecure employment”
The scholarships of SEK 20,000 are intended to cover approximately four weeks of work, from June to October.
– Many artists have lost their livelihoods today. The exhibitions are canceled, less art is bought in crises. Its costs have not decreased. Studio rentals and fees will be paid to artist associations, etc. They often have other jobs with uninsured bread employment even earlier. There may also be fewer jobs there, says Lena Wiklund, a county consultant at the Östergötland Museum.
