It was on February 2 that Alexei Navalny was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for violating the rules of a suspended sentence he received in 2014. He is now serving his sentence in the IK-2 penal colony in Pokrov east of Moscow. .

Navalny was at the end last year’s close to death after being poisoned by the neurotoxin novitjok and saved to life after being transferred to a hospital in Germany.

On Wednesday, Navalny went on a hunger strike after, despite repeated attempts, he did not receive the medical care and medications he had requested for the past three weeks.

In an Instagram post, Navalny writes that she has pain in her leg and her back and has now started to lose feeling in her leg and is now demanding that existing laws be followed and allowed to see a doctor. Despite this, he has not been allowed to see a doctor, writes Novaya Gazeta.

“And instead of doctors help, I am tortured with lack of sleep (they wake me up 8 times a night) ”, writes Navalny and adds:

“The life of a prisoner is worth less than a pack of cigarettes.”

Navalny must have been in pain by now during the trial where he stood up all the time because it would have been too painful to sit.

Earlier, Russian doctors said Navalny likely had a herniated disc and needed to be examined in the hospital and given painkillers. Some doctors have equated Navalny’s treatment in the penal colony with torture.
