In June 1972, G Gordon Liddy, then working for the FBI, was the leader of the group of men who broke into the Watergate building, where the Democrats had their headquarters in Washington.

The robbery was the beginning of the widespread Watergate scandal that eventually led to the resignation of US President Richard Nixon, following strong revelations from the Washington Post.

Liddy was sentenced to 20 years in prison for various crimes related to the scandal, however, he was released after four years and four months, of which 100 days in solitary confinement.

Controversial radio host

After his incarceration, he moved out and became a radio host, albeit controversial. Among other things, he is said to have offered people advice on how to kill federal agents in a broadcast, and he is also said to be proud of the theft in 1972.

I served the President of the United States and would do Watergate again, but with a much better staff, Liddy should have said, according to the LA Times.

The exact cause of death is unknown, but G Gordon Liddy’s children tell the AP it was not covid-19.
