SOCCER
Börje Salming has criticized Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s attitude.
The soccer star responded with a bitter rooster to the ice hockey legend.
– I deserve the criticism and I come to accept, it was a funny and good answer, says Börje Salming.
Following a 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory against Kosovo in Pristina, Zlatan Ibrahimovic went on the attack against … Börje Salming.
– I heard that Börje Salming opened his mouth and said something about me making gestures in the field, but if you do not know the person, you should not open your mouth. Because if he sticks a record in your head, it doesn’t mean you do the right thing all the time. Then he will take care of his, I will take care of mine, says Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“You must defend yourself”
Börje Salming has followed the comeback of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Swedish national soccer team.
– That thing with the record in my head was fun and I laughed a lot, it was good. What he says about Italy is probably also true. When criticism occurs to myself, I must be able to accept it myself. You must have the opportunity to defend yourself. It’s nice that you’re calling so we can talk about it, because I like to do it, says Börje Salming.
“He’s a team player”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic commented on the gestures: “As soon as you make a gesture in Sweden, it is seen as something negative. In Italy it is completely different. Just because you make a gesture does not mean that you are negative. That is my way of being positive.” .
It is precisely the gestures and body language that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has shown to his teammates that Börje Samling questioned Sportbladet.
– I’ll stick with that. It’s the way he sent negative signals earlier that I didn’t like and thought was okay. I am a team player, I have always been a team player. I still want to emphasize that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has always been a fantastic soccer player for Sweden and around the world and he knows it himself, I have always respected him for his soccer qualities and as a private person, says Börje Salming.
“Soft and nice”
Like so many others, Börje Salming has noticed a difference in Zlatan Ibrahimovic from when he played for Sweden five years ago.
– It is so funny that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to the national team with a much better attitude and is humble, he speaks for the team and for everyone. It has proven to be smooth and pleasant. I’m really impressed that he’s been such a nice guy these days, it’s really visible. With these three assists he has shown how he can help the national team. As a team player and leader, he has convinced me. It’s a lot of fun that he’s back, he’s always been cruel and brilliant as a player, says Börje Salming.
On April 17, the legend of the scarred back celebrates his 70th birthday.
