The king announces the name of his eighth grandson on Sunday!
Last Friday, the new prince was born into the royal family at Danderyd Hospital. Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip left the hospital a few hours later and looked rudely fresh in matching outfits when Säpo picked them up outside the hospital.
Already on Friday it was clear that the king would hold a council in Stockholm castle and then announce his three-day-old grandson.

The king will also reveal which dukedom he intends to give to the newest member of his family. The new prince has been ranked seventh in the succession, or in the order of succession, as he is actually called, and so he gives his aunt, Princess Madeleine a shove. From now on he will be eight years old.
The name of the new prince!
The newborn son of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philips will be the royal couple’s eighth grandson in as many years, but what will he be called? That’s the big question and probably a hot topic in the royal family right now.
Everything indicates that Sofia and Carl Philip will choose a completely “own” nickname (as they did with the names Gabriel and Alexander). While the two middle names, they will honor someone from their respective families or relatives.
