It was the grocery store staff who alerted police at 5.30pm on Saturday, when a package inside the mail began to spill an unknown liquid.
The ambulance, police and rescue services came to the scene and took the package out of the store.
– There is something in the package that has been broken and the liquid starts to leak out. The liquid has been assessed to be corrosive, says Sara Andersson, a police spokeswoman in Skåne.
The national bomb squad was called in and the substance was later secured. They then took the liquid away to take samples, as they could not identify the substance.
Three people, All the grocery store staff have been taken by ambulance to the hospital for review. Previously, the police stated that four people had been taken away for verification, but at 7 p.m. the information was corrected.
All three must, in some way, have come into contact with the liquid.
– There are people who have come into contact with the liquid, but I do not know if they are injured and if so, in what way. All people who have been in contact with this liquid should be monitored because currently no one knows what it is, says Sara Andersson.
A preliminary investigation into causing danger to others has been launched.
Do you have any suspicions that the recipient of the package may be an alleged victim?
– The work hasn’t gotten that far yet. Of course, it is something we can see, but first you have to find out what this liquid is for someone and if it is really dangerous, says Sara Andersson.
