Three elderly patients at Kristianstad Central Hospital have had money stolen, among other things.
A hospital employee confessed to the robberies and was fired.
– It’s tragic and sad, says Magnus Åkesson, the hospital’s security strategist.
During the winter, several patients at Kristianstad Central Hospital were exposed to theft. It has taken place in several rooms, including the covid room, the hospital confirms.
– There have been robberies in the Covid department, that is completely true. We have discovered this in part through the preparation of police reports and we began to investigate internally. Since then, the police have done their investigation and the person in question has admitted. As the person has recognized us, we have also acted from there, says Magnus Åkesson, security strategist at Kristanstad Central Hospital.

Thefts for more than 30,000 SEK
The fact that there is a ban on visits to hospitals in the Skåne Region simplified the investigative work, says the security strategist. It was last week that a hospital employee entered her employer’s Skåne region and was fired.
– The person in question is sorry, and it is good in any case, says Magnus Åkesson.
The police claim that there are three applicants in the investigation and that they are elderly.
His compensation claims for the thefts are SEK 23,600, SEK 5,500 and SEK 2,500, respectively, depending on the police state.
– These are jewels that have disappeared, cash and withdrawals and purchases with cards. There are two cases of aggravated robbery and some cases of fraud, says Thomas Johansson, a communicator in the Blekinge / Northeast Skåne police area.
He does not know how the woman reacts to suspicions.

“Costs of committing crimes in the Skåne region”
Magnus Åkesson regrets the events.
– In this case, we are satisfied that the patients who have been exposed have been rehabilitated and that we have been able to repair the person in question.
He says that you should be able to feel safe as a patient or family member in hospitals.
– It is extremely important to have a high level of security in operations. I think it has that in general and here it is also proven that crime should not bear fruit. If you commit a crime in Skåne Region operations, it costs money, says Magnus Åkesson.
