Only French people over 55 should receive the Astra Zeneca vaccine, says the French equivalent of the Public Health Agency. The recommendation is based on the fact that blood clots that may be connected to the vaccine have only been detected in patients under 55 years of age.

The authority recommends that vaccinations with the Astra vaccine be resumed “without delay” after they were suspended earlier this week. French Prime Minister Jean Castex, 55, fired on live television to increase public confidence in the vaccine.

“I did not feel anything, although in general I am quite sensitive,” the prime minister told the press gathered outside a hospital in Paris.

The director of the French public health agency, Dominique le Guludec, says the side effects of the vaccine are unusual, but should be taken seriously. Now it comes out with the recommendation that French citizens under the age of 55 get vaccinated with the Pfizer, Modena or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
