WHO: Continue to vaccinate with the Astra vaccine

The WHO adds that its experts continue to review the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

The statement comes on the same day that British Health Minister Matt Hancocks said there was no evidence that vaccination with Astra Zeneca’s covid vaccine was behind the reported serious cases of blood clots.

“Over 11 million doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine have been used across the UK,” Hancock wrote in an article in The Sun.

“The proportion of reported cases (of blood clots) among those vaccinated is less than what can be expected to occur naturally in the general population,” added the Minister of Health, noting that the vaccine was approved by both the European Agency of Medicines (EMA) and the UK equivalent.

EMA is investigating

He urges his compatriots to say yes to the vaccine injection when it is their turn.

Several countries have suspended distribution of the vaccine in recent days.

The EMA is investigating the reported health problems to determine if they are real side effects or mere coincidences. The assessment must be completed by Thursday.

France and Italy, two of the countries that have temporarily stopped using the Astra vaccine, make it clear that vaccinations will resume quickly if the EMA gives a positive message.

“The vaccine is the solution”

The Prime Minister of France, Jean Castex, is one of those who wants to queue.

– I have decided that it would be prudent for me to get vaccinated very quickly as soon as the bus stop is lifted, which I hope so, and that all guarantees are issued, Castex said in an interview with BFM TV on Tuesday night.

– Show citizens that vaccines are the solution to this crisis and can be administered in a totally safe way.
