He is described as “innovative”, “fresh” and as an artist who goes home to both the Swedish people and the international jury. Tusse Chiza, born in 2002, competes for the first time in the Melodifestivalen.
– I think it will be Tusse who wins, I think he hits the widest of those who are pre-favorites. It doesn’t scare anyone and it sings well, it’s a good, modern song, says Ronny Larsson, who is on QX’s “Schlager Profiles” and continues:
– People talk about the moments in the Melodifestivalen when they felt that “Now something special happened”. The Tusse moment was like that, like when Anna Bergendahl sang in 2010 and Frans in 2016. It is unstoppable. I think Eric (Saade) can challenge considering it’s also about jury votes, but people’s votes will definitely go to Tusse, he says.
“More fun than many others”
Expressen’s Maria Brander points out that there are a lot of solid contributions this year, but “when you do it all,” Tusse Chiza keeps winning, she thinks.
– It seems you have the right kind of song, which will also work on Eurovision. If you compare it to the other contributions, it feels new and fresh. It has a huge “star quality”.
Johan Lindqvist at Göteborgsposten also believes that Tusse Chiza has the greatest opportunity and points to his unique expression as an advantage.
– It is innovative because it is in the context of the Melodifestival. It’s how he acts on stage, his clothes, and that he has an androgynous expression that makes him feel more fun than many others.
The “favorite heavy coat”
Tusse Chiza herself has said in a previous interview that it is scary to be a pre-favorite, because there is a lot of pressure in that word. With hours to go, he remains a favorite of both critics and video game companies.
– You have to wear your favorite heavy coat to the final, someone has to do it too. A popular theory is that Tusse takes the votes of the people and Eric Saade takes the international jury, says Markus Larsson, Aftonbladet.
The only one surveyed who goes against the grain is Kajsa Haidl in DN, who says that she waits for Tusse and that he has a good chance, but has a disadvantage because he is new in the context of the Melodifestival, which can give him to Eric. Saade an advantage in the international jury.
Among those expected to get the most votes in the final are Tusse Chiza, Eric Saade, The Mamas and Dotter.
– The rest have no chance, says Markus Larsson from Aftonbladet.
– It’s been about Eric, Tusse and Dotter for a long time. Each one has its own expression, feels modern and has strong songs, it really doesn’t matter who we send it to, it will stand out and be competitive in any case, says Ronny Larsson.
