The Uppsala Region has sent a request to the Swedish Municipalities and Regions (SKRs) to reactivate the crisis agreement for certain care personnel at Uppsala University Hospital.
If the request is granted, the agreement will begin to apply in different categories of personnel in the next days.
The region writes in a press release that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has increased rapidly, signifying a greater need for staff in intensive care and intermediate care.
“The hospital has exhausted all opportunities for staff in other ways, to avoid overloading employees who have worked a full year during the pandemic with longer work shifts. But, sadly, it has not been enough. Activating the agreement crisis is the definitive measure, “he added. says Emilie, president of the Orring (M) regional board in the press release.
The crisis agreement means that employees can schedule longer work shifts and work 48 hours a week for higher pay.
The crisis agreement is currently activated in three regions: Stockholm, Jönköping and Västerbotten. Decisions on the agreement are made by SKR and Sobona (the employers’ organization of municipal companies).
