20-year-old Norwegian running star Jakob Ingebrigtsen thought he had won a gold in the planned European Championship and celebrated victory in the 1500 meters after the race.
Ingebrigtsen struggled in the first corner of the race, but he himself thought it didn’t matter that he finished off the list at some point.
– I was outside the bar at the corner, but I felt like there were several Poles trying to run towards me. So I don’t expect there to be any problems, he says on the NRK TV broadcast.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen was ruled out
But there were problems for Ingebrigtsen because he was last on the list of results due to the incident, something that Norway has appealed.
The Norwegian Athletics Association tells Dagbladet that they have lodged a protest against the verdict but have no further information on how it went.
– We want to say that you should not wash according to the rules because we can show in the pictures that you are pushed and you don’t gain anything from that, says the director of the Norwegian Athletics Association, Erlend Slokvik, to TV2.
Late on Friday night, Norwegian media reported that Ingebrigtsen overcame the appeal. “Shortly before midnight, they received the news that Ingebrigtsen had won the appeal. Thus, you can unleash the golden joy “, writes TV2.
