New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo is accused of sexually harassing and intimidating employees. But he has no intention of resigning from his post.
That is what Cuomo affirms in his first public appearance since the accusations were known.
At the same time, the governor apologizes for the “pain” he has caused, adding that he now understands that he has acted in a way that made people “uncomfortable.”
– It was not intentional. And I sincerely apologize. I feel terrible. Honestly, I’m embarrassed. And it’s not easy to admit, says the 63-year-old governor.
Two former employees initially accused Cuomo of sexual harassment last week. He denied everything, but chose to ask the head of the New York Department of Justice to, together with the chief judge of an appeals court, assign a lawyer the task of conducting an independent investigation.
Since then, another woman has come forward and claimed that the governor behaved inappropriately towards her.
Cuomo now says he will cooperate fully with the investigation. At the same time, it calls on state residents to wait for the results of the investigation before extracting any
