Sandviken was not far from starting the Swedish Cup with a landslide victory.
With 50 minutes played, he led by two goals.
But IFK Gothenburg managed to turn around with three quick goals and won 4-3.
He came close to a blast from the division 1 Sandviken team against IFK Gothenburg in the first group round of the Swedish Cup. But the Gothenburgers managed to turn a two-goal deficit into a 4-3 victory in the second half.
It was Sandviken who put the first ball into the net, when Martin Springfeldt hit a nice diagonal ball inward back to Naeem Mohammed.
Gothenburg managed to equalize in a corner shortly after, where Pontus Wernbloom headed the ball. But despite the game going to halftime in a draw, Sandviken held a two-goal lead in the 50th minute.
He went 1-3 to 4-3
Sandviken came out with new energy in the second half and scored two quick goals. Ahmed Bonnah scored the lead almost immediately and former striker Mohammed extended the lead minutes later.
However, the reigning cup champions did not intend to go there. Robin Söder scored twice, and newcomer Carl Johansson put the nail in the coffin when he scored the decisive 4-3, just ten minutes after Söder’s first. That result was maintained until the final signal.
The other two teams in the same group are IFK Norrköping and Gif Sundsvall, who met at the same time as Gothenburg and Sandviken.
There it was “Beijing” who secured the victory, after an early red card over Sundsvall’s Paya Pichkah and double goals from Sead Haksabanovic.
This means that Norrköping leads the group in goal difference after the first round. Thus, Sundsvall will be last, even on goal difference.
