In mid-January, UN Healthcare, which includes Trollhättan and Uddevalla hospitals, announced the order in which employees would be vaccinated. It turned out that the hospital management had chosen to be stage two, ahead of, among other things, the cardiologist’s staff and AT physicians.
Hospital director Björn Järbur, who claimed the decision meant that half of the management team would be vaccinated, defended himself on DN, saying:
– This easily becomes a reasoning that power is with shoehorn, but the alternative that we would be without decision makers is not good. I think it is reasonable to be careful and take additional measures.
Agnes Wold: “Embarrassing”
But the message has been criticized, among others, by Agnes Wold, a professor of clinical bacteriology, who in an interview with DN called it “embarrassing.” He also made a connection with Emil in Lönneberga when he compared the director of the NU health hospital, Björn Järbur, to the commander, who stole food from the elderly in the asylum.
To GT, Agnes Wold says:
– It can only be compared with Sahlgrenska, where it is not talked about. Management and administration personnel were immediately said to be classified in category three or four. It is very clear that an administrator should not go before those who have contact with patients. It’s a violation of healthcare etiquette, it just doesn’t.
Björn Järbur believes that the statement is not respectful.
– I have no problem in being reviewed and criticized for wrong decisions, but I think we should have a respectful tone. We really try to do what is best for our patients, he says, adding that management has not yet been vaccinated as a result of the vaccine supply.
– Of course, the most important are those who take care of patients, but management also has important functions to make the whole system work.
Wants to be in their place
You in management cannot work at home?
– I don’t believe in that kind of leadership. Whenever I can, I am in our care rooms and talk to employees about how they feel and how they feel, he says.
Agnes Wold says she understands that “it can’t be fun to be compared to command,” but adds:
– If you don’t make sure to embarrass this properly, continue. It is important for general morale and for priority groups to get your vaccine, that it becomes a bit unpleasant for you when you do.
