For you, as a sensible adult, you play a role, for children and young people living in abusive families. In 2018, CAN researchers determined that 320,000 children under the age of 18 are negatively affected by a parent or guardian’s alcohol use. More than every seventh child!

The IOGT-NTO children’s organization Junis updates these children each year with the report Municipal Support for Children Growing Up in Substance Abuse Families.

The municipalities lack their support.

The relationship with alcohol is a shared responsibility. Talk about the negative impact of alcohol on society and about the protective factors that exist, such as school, safe environments, being seen every day, providing frames and structures.

Dare to see and listen to children as experts in their own situation. Important given that reports of violence in close relationships and abuse have increased in the last year.

Decision makers in our society, dare to put alcohol on the agenda. The adult world needs to show children and youth that they are allowed to talk about alcohol. Ask the question: How are you?

You politicians: It matters with measures that reduce adult alcohol consumption, for the sake of children.
