Super even in the elections in Ecuador: conversion awaits

The clear-goal presidential election in Ecuador means that some of the votes must be counted.

The battle is over who will face the young socialist economist Andrés Arauz in the second round of the April elections.

Arauz won last week’s first round of voting with 32.7 percent of the vote, but behind him there is only a razor’s edge difference between left-wing and environmental politician Yaku Pérez and former conservative financier Guillermo. Lasso.

With 99.99 percent of the votes counted, Lasso obtained 19.74 percent and Pérez 19.38 percent.

Due to the stable result, the Electoral Commission will recalculate all the votes in the country’s largest province, Guayas, as well as half of the votes in another 16 of the 24 provinces of the country.

Pérez, who is a prominent leader of the country’s indigenous peoples, claims that there have been mistakes in the election and wants to see a recalculation in all provinces, which Lasso supports.
