Donald Trump faces trial following the January 6 assault on the US Congress, when five people were killed. According to the indictment, the former president incited the mob to rebel in his speech just before entering the Capitol, where Congress was in the process of confirming the outcome of the elections.
The Supreme Court began Tuesday night with a debate, focusing on the question of whether it is contrary to the constitution to take Trump to trial. With numbers 56-44, a majority in the Senate later voted not to do so. Therefore, negotiations continue.

“We hope that US senators will not act according to the will and feelings of the people, but will do the right thing,” he told the BBC.
Trump’s other attorney, David Schoen, believes the trial is an opportunity for other politicians to remove Trump from politics and strip millions of voters of their civil rights.
– My general sentiment is, frankly, that I want to cry over what I think this judgment will do with our long-standing fantastic constitution and with the American people who stand on both sides of a major divide that now characterizes our nation.
The Senate has a hundred members. Vice President Kamala Harris has a casting vote because Democrats and Republicans have the same number of members in the House. A two-thirds majority is required for Trump to be ousted. In practice, this means that 17 Republicans must join the 50 Democrats in the vote.
