A major search operation was launched outside the Lilleby Sea Baths in Hisingen. The search operation began when a witness heard a cry for help just before 1 p.m.
– We have alerted the rescue helicopters of the Swedish Maritime Administration and the sea rescue is on its way from Rörö, says Mikael Bergström, air rescue leader.
One of the defense boats that were in the area, as well as the rescue service and ambulance, have also been alerted to the place.
Person taken to hospital
One person was found unconscious in the water.
– The helicopter has taken a person out of the water, says Mikael Bergström at 1.30 pm.
The helicopter also picked up an anesthetist who arrived at the scene.
– The anesthetist accompanies to take care of the patient during the transport to the hospital.
Action outside the Lilleby Sea Bath
Initially, it was unclear if one or two people ended up in the water.
Work is still in progress on the site.
– The operation has not finished yet.
At 1335, the Swedish Maritime Administration’s air and sea rescue center was able to confirm that a sea rescue session with divers, among others, was still underway.
– We are now investigating if there would be more people in the water, we have no indication that there are more, but we want to be careful, says Carl-Johan Tylegård, leader of sea rescue.
