A doctor who has been convicted of threatening an official can keep his job in the Sörmland Region, writes Eskilstuna-Kuriren.

The doctor, a man in his 60s, was recently sentenced by the Eskilstuna District Court to a suspended sentence and to perform community service for threatening two police officers in connection with an arrest. On Friday, Region Sörmland announced that it is back in service after a period of suspension.

“Region Sörmland has put in place a series of measures for the person who belongs to the responsibility that the employer has to do,” writes Fredrik Gustavsson, press officer, in an email to Eskilstuna-Kuriren.

“The person is convicted of something that happened outside of working hours,” he continues.

It was in April last year that the man was arrested in central Eskilstuna after coughing and spitting at passersby while claiming he was infected with corona. After being detained by the police, he is said to have told the police, among other things, that he would shoot them and that he works as a doctor and “knows how to cut people”.
