Profit increase for Nordea

Helsinki-based major bank Nordea reports an operating profit of 973 million euros for the fourth quarter of last year. This can be compared to the profit of 875 million euros during the corresponding quarter of 2019.

The average forecast operating profit was 972 million euros, according to a compilation of forecasts carried out by Refinitiv.

The interest margin, which the bank obtains from the difference between passive and active interest rates, rose to 1,169 million euros, from 1,108 million euros the previous year.

At the same time, net fee income increased to € 792 million, from € 775 million.

In relation to financial statements, Nordea’s Board of Directors proposes a dividend of EUR 0.39 per share for 2020. In addition to that, Nordea will pay EUR 0:07 per share as the first part of the dividend for 2019.

For the whole of 2019, Nordea plans to distribute € 0.40 per share and the Board proposes that the remaining amount of € 0.33 be paid after September 2021, in accordance with the ECB’s recommendation.

Before financial statements, Nordea’s stock is up 2 percent year-to-date after dropping the price of about 8 percent last year.
