Minnesota forced to play at halftime | GP

Forwards Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson have been added to the so-called covid roster, along with their teammates Nick Bonino, Nick Bjugstad and Jared Spurgeon. Marcus Foligno is already on the list.

This means Minnesota cannot play, which means games against Colorado, Arizona and a first meeting against St. Louis are canceled.

If all goes well, Minnesota can return for the games no earlier than February 11, when a second game against St. Louis is scheduled.

Minnesota is the sixth club since this year’s NHL season began in January to suffer postponed games since players were added to the covid roster. Dallas was the first out, followed by Carolina, Vegas and most recently Buffalo and New Jersey. So far, 22 games have been postponed, according to the Star Tribune.

Being included in the covid list does not necessarily mean that you have been infected with the coronavirus. It may also be the case that you are considered to be in close contact with an infected person or that the result of a test could not rule out an infection. As long as you are registered, you cannot train, play or travel with the team.
