The operation in the fire of the Polar bread was delayed | Tidning Strömstads

The rescue effort when the bakery caught fire one night in August last year has been investigated by the Uppsala Fire Brigade, which reports several shortcomings in its report.

Among other things, the pagers for rescue personnel in Piteå-Älvsbyn did not work because a server was down at the time. Before the SOS operator received a notification that the alarm had not been triggered, he had time to answer a new incoming call and thus lost the error message.

Instead, it was the rescue leader in Piteå-Älvsbyn who saw the alarm via an SMS function and signaled to the alarm center to use plan B, that is, to go out with the alarm via communication by radio “Rakel”.

The call was delayed for about five minutes.

The report notes that “it cannot be ruled out that if the alarm had worked as it should, the result of the damage could have been different.”

SOS Alarm says your routines will change.

– At this moment we are looking to introduce an audible signal when the error message is recovered. In addition, we have made sure that not just an individual operator sees that message, says Björn Skoglund, Operations Specialist at SOS Alarm, to SVT.
