In February 2018, Nikolas Cruz, then 19, attacked his old Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. He shot and killed a total of 17 people, 14 of whom were schoolchildren.
Conspiracy theorists have baselessly claimed that the shooting was a hoax. A theory that Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene, now an elected congresswoman, agreed with is reasonable.
His stance later led to demands that he resign from his post as a member of Congress in Georgia. She did not, but rather expressed her support for the QAnon conspiracy theory, praised by Donald Trump and elected to the US House of Representatives.
Now criticism of Marjorie Taylor Greene has flared again, after a video from March 2019 was released online.
There, he confronts the school shooting survivor David Hogg, now 20, in the Washington DC Senate and accuses him of being paid by financier and Holocaust survivor George Soros.
– He’s a coward, says de Hogg.
“Spread conspiracy theories”
David Hogg, who was a student at the school, after the shooting committed to liberal gun laws in the United States and spoke directly with members of Congress in an attempt to bring about changes to the law. Something that made Marjorie Taylor Greene turn red. Among other things, he has called Hogg “Little Hitler.”
David Hogg writes on Twitter about the Greene attack: “It is frustrating that we have people like Marjorie Taylor Greene in Congress who would rather spread conspiracy theories about mass shootings than face the reality of people dying every day from gun violence.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene comments in writing to CNN about her attack on David Hogg.
“I will work to defend our gun rights so that Americans can protect themselves and others from evil people who want to harm or kill them.”
Marjorie Greene Taylor conspiracy theories
The QAnon conspiracy theory has its origins in posts that were spread through the 4chan 2017 forum. A user who claimed to have a Q security rating within the US state later posted cryptic messages.
The message was spread widely and has led to the theory that there is a satanic cult of pedophiles from the elite of society who abuse, murder and sometimes eat their victims.
Supporters of the theory believe that Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Hollywood stars are members of the association. The so-called elite must also control the so-called “deep state” and oppose President Donald Trump.
Billionaire, Holocaust survivor and philanthropist George Soros, 90, has been the subject of extensive conspiracy theories with anti-Semitic elements. In an American context, he has been accused, among other things, by far-right people of trying to start a covert revolution in the country and toppling democracy.
