The father of young children from the Free Church is said to have admitted the double assault rapes to his wife, who reported him.

Police are now investigating whether the man, whose DNA was found at both crime scenes, may be linked to more assaults in recent years.

– We will investigate it extensively. Currently, there are no other criminal suspicions, but we do not rule out anything, says Niklas Kraft, in the sex crimes group in Stockholm North.

Over the weekend, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of two rapes, one in Täby in June 2020 and another in Uppsala in July 2018. After both crimes, the police were able to obtain DNA. From the clues, the police were able to create a new type of ghost image that is created using DNA instead of descriptions.

On Monday, the National Forensic Center confirmed that it was possible to link the man’s DNA to crime scenes.

The man, who on the surface lived family life with his wife and young children in the Stockholm area and with a background in the Free Church, was revealed after he admitted the rapes to his wife who reported him to the police, according to information by Aftonbladet.

– He admitted it. We received information the night before Saturday about this person and that’s when he was arrested, Eva Nilsson said at the police command center Monday.

Police: exclude nothing

The man has suspected probable cause of aggravated rape and rape, respectively, and an arrest hearing will be held on Tuesday.

According to Niklas Kraft, group manager for the sex crimes group in North Stockholm, older cases are also being analyzed to see if they can be linked to the arrested father of young children.

– We will investigate it extensively and see what is available and with a similar mode. At the moment, there are no other criminal suspicions against this person, but we do not rule out anything, says Niklas Kraft on Tuesday morning.

Has a lot of material

Among other things, they analyze a series of cases of sexual harassment that have occurred in Täby and Vallentuna from 2015 onwards, and where the police previously suspected that it was the same aggressor.

– We are aware of what is flourishing on social media right now, and we are also seeing several cases from last summer with a similar mode. But at the moment we don’t have cases that are more interesting, says Niklas Kraft.

– Work has also been done during the fall where we have developed an aggressor profile, which has led us to have a lot of material and when we are now in a new situation with a detained person, we start to see what we have based on that.
