Ottman Azaitar was undefeated and would fight at UFC 257.
But there was no fight in front of a live audience in Abu Dhabi and millions of viewers for Azaitar. Instead, he was fired from the organization after smuggling people into the UFC hotel.
There are strict crown restrictions at UFC Fight Island, Abu Dhabi. The organization that chose to collect the events when the rest of the sports world closed has (for the most part) managed to keep the infection out of the so-called bubble. All those who are going to fight on the island are forced first to isolate themselves in each country of origin before leaving for Abu Dhabi, then there is another quarantine that is applied once they have arrived at the exclusive hotel “W” in Abu Dhabi where they are all combatants are housed. .
These rules have been followed to the letter since the UFC held its first gala on “Fight Island” in July 2020. But Moroccan Azaitar did not comply with the rules and violated security protocol when he introduced a stranger to the hotel. .
UFC President Dana White showed no mercy after the stomping and donned the toughest gloves he could find. Azaitar was immediately fired.
“Everything is recorded”
– It’s bad, the [Azaitar] runs now. He’s no longer a UFC fighter, says Dana White.
– He and his team cut off their bracelets and gave them to outsiders. A guy entered the bubble through a room, went down four balconies, [Azaitars] balcony and leave a bag full of something we don’t know what it is.
According to Dana White, there must be photographic evidence of the entire course of events.
– Then he changed his clothes and went back out of the bubble. We have everything on camera, we saw everything, how everything happened, we deleted his match (at UFC 257) and we kicked it.
Azaitar has a record of 13 wins and zero losses and, according to many, had a bright future in the UFC. But now the Moroccan has to find a new employer.
