On Saturday, a rally in support of jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was held in front of the Russian embassy in Stockholm.

Also in Stockholm, people have demonstrated in support of the jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

More than 80 people gathered in front of the Russian embassy at lunchtime on Saturday.

As there were more than eight participants, the police intervened.

– It should be considered a public meeting, says police spokeswoman Eva Nilsson.

– We gave them the opportunity to dissolve it themselves. They themselves chose to go home.

Navalny was arrested at the Moscow airport on January 17 when he was returning to Russia. He had previously been treated in Germany for several months since he survived an assassination attempt in August, where the neurotoxin novitjok was used.

In Russia, a series of protests are taking place across the country in support of Navalny. Hundreds of people have been arrested.
