Supreme Court indictments to the Senate on Monday

“I spoke with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, and she informed me that the document will be delivered to the Senate on Monday,” said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“There will be a trial in the United States Senate and a vote will be taken on whether to overthrow the president,” he said in a speech to his fellow senators.

Earlier, Republican Mitch McConnell, now a minority leader in the Senate, proposed that Donald Trump’s trial take place in mid-February.

The implementation is not yet clear

In a statement, McConnell said he had sent Chuck Schumer a schedule.

McConnell stated in his proposal that he wanted the House of Representatives to deliver the formal charges against Trump on January 28 and that the former president would have two weeks to prepare his defense.

Now it seems that it will be January 25 when the document with the accusations will be delivered to the Senate.

Senator Dick Durbin, who is the second Democrat after Schumer, has said that it has not yet been decided whether the Senate will have a “full trial with evidence and witnesses” or an “expedited” procedure.

Donald Trump is accused of inciting the rebellion, following the assault on the Capitol of the United States Congress on January 6.
