On New Year’s Eve, residents of a nursing home in Eskilstuna municipality were vaccinated against covid-19. When it comes to vaccine doses, the idea is that on-site staff should be vaccinated first, and vacant staff should be called second.
But according to information from SVT, the manager of the accommodation chose to vaccinate his own family rather than call the vacant staff.
– It bothered me that they had called me and received a vaccination, says an employee who wishes to remain anonymous.
The employee claims that he, and several other staff members, had not missed a call for the day in question and that there is criticism for the manager’s actions.
Viktor Hård, head of the department of care and nursing homes in the municipality of Eskilstuna, confirms what happened.
– We know what happened. We are looking at the circumstances surrounding it in our investigation and cannot comment until it is clear. For us it is a question of confidence that everything will work out, he says.
“A fight against the clock”
According to Viktor Hård, the guidelines are that vaccine doses cannot be ruled out.
– We, as employers, cannot order anyone to be vaccinated, it is completely voluntary. It can be a battle against time and if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t get anyone, the question is what to do with the residual doses then. You’re seeing that now, he says.
SVT has contacted the director of the nursing home, who does not want to answer our questions, but refers to the director of the department, Viktor Hård.
