An expert who helped police find Kim Wall’s remains is involved in the search for 17-year-old Mattias.
The police hope that this Danish professor can determine which part of the law to apply for.
– We have received outside help to calculate how particles can move in the water, says Hans Sjöberg, Ljungby Municipal Police.
Police are still searching for 17-year-old Mattias Borg, who disappeared in Ljungby on December 5. On Monday, the Coast Guard conducted a dive in Lagan north of the Replösa Bridge. It did not result in any new traces of Mattias.
– We have looked for an area assigned to us by the police and we have been able to verify that there is nothing of interest here, says Johan Eklöf, head of diving for the Coast Guard.
Keep looking in the river
One of the theories of the police is that Mattias, for unknown reasons, ended up in Lagan. The river flows through the area where it was observed the night it disappeared. On Thursday, police marked special search dogs in an area of Lagan. Therefore, the search in the river will continue.

One of the theories of the police is that Mattias, for reasons unknown, ended up in Lagan.
To call the place of application, the police get Danish experience.
– They have received help from a Danish professor who was involved in the Kim Wall case and in the search for Michael, who disappeared in Karlskrona. Based on the marks the dogs have made, he makes calculations, says Johan Eklöf.
Anonymous teacher
Eklöf doesn’t want to say what the Danish teacher’s name is. He should have requested to be allowed to remain anonymous in his cooperation with the Swedish police.
The idea is that the teacher’s calculation helps the police find where the smell the dogs have smelled is coming from.
– It is a special protein that is secreted by a body that is in water. This has different travel times in the water depending on how deep it is, heat or cold, and the strength of the current. All the factors are weighed and then it can be calculated roughly how far from the spot the dogs mark when the object is found, says Johan Eklöf.

How do you see the chances of finding 17-year-old Mattias?
– Conditions are good if you are in Lagan. If it is there and the searches continue according to these calculations, it is very likely that they will find it.
The municipal police Hans Sjöberg is sure that the investigation is assisted by Danish experts.
– It’s an extremely large area. The cape is very wide and is 16 meters deep. If we can break it down a bit through this experience, it is clearly an advantage for us, says Hans Sjöberg, Ljungby Municipal Police.
