The rare buy trade, which includes all trade besides food, has had a difficult time during the pandemic. But after three months of reduced expectations for the future, the negative trend is now broken and optimism rises a bit, the Swedish Trade Future Indicator shows.

However, the increase is at very low levels. The future indicator increases by 0.5 units to 78.2, where an index of 100 is the neutral level.

“Despite a small increase, confidence in the future remains low. Traders remain pessimistic, reflecting the current state of the pandemic and increased government trade restrictions. The fact that work vaccination has started, on the other hand, it gives hope and helps more people to see a life beyond the crisis ”, says Karin Johansson, CEO of Svensk Handel, in a press release.

For e-commerce, on the other hand, the opposite is true. Optimism remains at significantly higher levels than in the same period last year, but decreases by 1.9 units to 120.2.
