The Dutch government, led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, is resigning, reports the Dutch utility company NOS.

The resignation comes after a parliamentary investigation concluded that the government mismanaged state support for families with children. Thousands of parents have been wrongly accused of cheating on subsidies, leading many of them to financial ruin.

Mark Rutte has been Prime Minister since 2010. The Netherlands is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections in two months, on March 17 this year.
