Decisions are made about compensation for side effects

All people vaccinated against covid-19 in Sweden are guaranteed compensation in case of side effects, regardless of whether the vaccine is included in the drug insurance or not. The government will decide this at an additional government meeting on Thursday, Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren (S) told TT.

The background is that the American company Moderna, whose vaccine has been approved within the EU, is not included in the Swedish pharmaceutical insurance.

– I want to emphasize that we do not do this because we are particularly concerned about this particular vaccine. The point is that we want to be able to use all the vaccines that we have agreed to and that meet the requirements for approval, says Social Affairs Minister Lena Hallengren.

The decision means that the Board of Appeal will be entrusted with signing an agreement on claims settlement and compensation through Pharmaceutical Insurance. People experiencing side effects should, as usual, seek medical attention for help with evaluation and ongoing treatment.
