Irma, 21, and Elma, 20, were killed in a car accident that claimed four lives.

Due to the fact that the driver did not have a driving license, the family also received a large debt. For whatever reason, a 21-year-old man was driving Elma’s rental car.

Now his mother hopes someone will tell her why the man was behind the wheel.

Once a week, Dzenana Usto, 42, passes by the place where her daughters Irma, 21, and Elma, 20, died. She cries all the time.

– They were the best daughters. I wish everyone could have such daughters, says Dzenana Usto.

As Christmas approached, the pain was intense. Irma and Elma loved the holidays and Dzenana feels paralyzed.

– My youngest son asks “Mom, why haven’t we dressed the Christmas tree yet?”

It has been 10 months since the car accident on the E22 in Olskroken, where four young people died: Dzenana’s daughters, a 19-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man.

“I have lived for my daughters. I have fought for them to become good people and they were,” says Dzenana Usto about her daughters Irma and Elma.

According to the police investigation, the 21-year-old was driving at least 110 km / h when he crashed the car into the tip of a shock absorber. The car was thrown into the air and crashed into a concrete pillar before landing on its side.

A preliminary investigation was launched into the serious cause of another person’s death and gross negligence in traffic. However, since the alleged driver died, no charges were filed. Therefore, Dzenana has not received an answer to the question “Why?”

He knows that Irma and Elma got a call that night saying their 19-year-old girlfriend was in trouble. They hurried off in Elma’s car. But the kind of problem the friend had has not arisen.

– My younger children have said that it was the sister of the friend who called. I don’t know more than that, says Dzenana.

She explains that the daughters always wanted to help others. So it is not surprising that they left in a hurry. But ignorance consumes her.

– I think about it all the time. It would have been a comfort to know why the friend needed help.

You want to know why

Another issue that gnaws at her is the fact that the 21-year-old was driving the car. Who did not have a driver’s license. Elma was very worried about her car and didn’t even let her parents drive it.

– It was his eyeball. She named the car “Bettan”.

– I think all the time about different things that may have happened. Was the man hunted? Was the 19-year-old seriously ill?

Dzenana has previously asked someone to tell her about it and still hasn’t given up hope.

– You can provide information anonymously to the police. If you don’t want to talk to the police, he says.

The leader of the police preliminary investigation, Andreas Gabrielsson, regrets not being able to find out why the 21-year-old was driving.

– We are very sorry that we could not improve it further. But we’ve done what we could, says Andreas Gabrielsson, head of the preliminary investigation in the western region police traffic section.

Through a digital reconstruction of the accident, a technical examination of the car and road and a forensic examination of the deceased, the police are sure why the accident occurred.

– The combination of, among other things, speed and lack of driving license was fatal, says Andreas Gabrielsson.

Andreas Gabrielsson’s assessment is that the investigation would have led to a trial if the driver had survived.

Large debt after the accident

One problem that has arisen after the accident is a debt of SEK 180,000. Elma had rented the car of her dreams, a 2018 Audi A1 sports car.

– Elma’s uncle was the creditor, but Elma paid the rental fee and insurance herself every month. She was careful about that, says Dzenana.

The car was owned by Volkswagen, which has a car damage insurance agreement with IF. But the insurance company refused to pay compensation for the car because the 21-year-old did not have a driver’s license.

At the same time, a property manager advised the family to wait to pay the rental fee until the police investigation was completed. The effect was that the debt grew from just over 140,000 to 180,000 and wiped out the bailiff.

Since Elma’s uncle is the creditor of the car, now it is he who must pay. But Dzenana says the family is struggling to pay the sum.

– We can’t let him pay when he was so nice and stood up as a creditor. Parents pay 2,500 SEK a month, but her name is in debt, says Dzenana and continues:

– We were advised to put it aside. Then it became like this.

The family lawyer has reported the case to the authority of the crime victim. The idea is that they will establish that Irma and Elma were exposed to a crime when the accident occurred.

The hope is that the authority decides to pay criminal compensation. However, it will take a couple of months before the crime victim authority completes its evaluation.

– Money is not important. I will never get my two beloved daughters back, says Dzenana.

When Aftonbladet contacts Volkswagen Group Sweden about the debt, they promise to investigate the matter.

– We have received new information thanks to your contact. These circumstances were completely unknown to exist. We will see it again. It’s a tragic event that has hit the family hard, says Marcus Thomasfolk, information manager for the Volkswagen Group Sweden.

Elma Ustos Audi crashes directly into the exit railing. The car rises towards the ground and flies about 16 meters towards a concrete base ahead, hitting the base with the roof in front. He then falls towards the side railing and lands on the side. Police have had difficulty forming an opinion on the exact course of the accident. – We cannot decide whether they would go towards the Tingstad or Partille tunnel, says Andreas Gabrielsson, leader of the police preliminary investigation.
